The "Hilly Hallacious" event went past our entrance on Hoopers Creek and is part of a large County bike system. Even our driveway of .9 of a mile is a challenge for even the best.
We are surrounded by hiking opportunities from Chimney Rock to the Dupont and Pisgah Forest. Lots of do it yourself opportunities as well as guided hikes graded from novice to expert. Backpacks, refreshments and lunches can be included.
Western NC is host to 6 different ski areas, including the largest - Sugar Mountain resort off highway 184 - with 20 slopes and 9 lifts.
Three ski resorts are less than 1 hour from the Chateau. There are also 3 Tubing Parks for family fun.

Dear Lee and Jeanne. I asked my husbgand to surprise me for our belated 23rd anniverasary and he brought me here. We haven't had a getaway since our son was born 141/2 years ago. After our incredible weekend, we vowed to do this more often. You two have a wonderful place here and Lee, your wit is amazing and you and Jeanne's conversations and hospitality have been both relaxing and enervating. We have now partnered with a number of local restaurants to provide our guest with the finest catered dinners. A full course gourmet dinner can be served in your own room or one of the Chateau's many public rooms. The Chateau has recently obtained a state alcohol license and guests can purchase wine or beer and even add delicious appetizers.
